Was ist IECEx?

IECEx ist die Abkürzung für IEC System for Certification of Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres. Es handelt sich um ein internationales Zertifizierungssystem, das von der Internationalen Elektrotechnischen Kommission (IEC) entwickelt und verwaltet wird und darauf abzielt, den weltweiten Handel mit Geräten und Komponenten zu erleichtern, die in explosionsgefährdeten Umgebungen verwendet werden.
Das Hauptziel des IECEx-Systems besteht darin, eine einheitliche Reihe von Normen und Zertifizierungsverfahren zu schaffen, die weltweit anerkannt sind. Dadurch entfällt die Notwendigkeit für die Hersteller, mehrere separate Zertifizierungen für verschiedene Märkte zu erhalten, wodurch technische Handelshemmnisse abgebaut und die Produktsicherheit regional einheitlich gewährleistet wird.
